SAGITTARIUS (NOV 22- DEC 21)  December begins rather calmly, and your energy, which has been a bit flat, starts to pick up.  Thank god—you are a Sag, after all, and we are known for our boundless energy.  Mars in Aries is starting to pick up speed after its long retrograde, and you feel more energized, more able to get things done. Jupiter nudges close to Saturn and although things are still a mess in the world, you begin to feel more settled. Mercury enters Sagittarius on the 1st, bringing you more mental spark.  Enjoy the fiery inspiration during the first two weeks of the month.   Then things get very interesting!   By the 8th the Sun makes an angle to Neptune for a few days of confusion and unsettledness.  The Sagittarius new moon and eclipse falls on the 14th, and it packs a punch!   Mercury in Sag lines up exactly with the Sun and Moon, and they make a sloppy angle to Neptune.  This is a great new moon for dreamy intuition, for creativity, for envisioning the healing of the planet.  Mars also makes a sweet little angle to the Sag Sun, bringing closure to whatever you struggled with during the Mars retrograde period of the fall.  Jupiter is now within spitting distance of Saturn – by the 19th they both will have entered Aquarius, ushering in a whole new world!  You love that!  The two planets haven’t been this close in 800 years—they are so close they look like one planet in the sky!  They are the dominant influence for the last couple of weeks of the month, inspiring stability and a sense that adults are in charge, or soon will be.  Whew!  Ring in that Winter Solstice on the 21st with a lot of noise and light and celebrate – Saturn and Jupiter bring a new era, major changes in the structures of our society.  Mercury in Capricorn pairs with the Sun for a few days after the 21st, stimulating a lot of interchange. Mars squares Pluto that week, and it’s a good time to make plans and move mountains. The month ends with a Cancer full moon late on the 29th with mushy, romantic Venus -Neptune influences.  Enjoy!   This is one year we will be happy to be done with!

CAPRICORN (Dec 21-Jan19)   This is an interesting month, and, you will be glad to know, a much calmer one than those that come before… The beginning of the month is in fact pretty stable, as Jupiter pulls away from Pluto and gets close to Saturn.  Jupiter and Saturn,  paired up in   Capricorn,  feel good to you, stabilizing and grounding.  Enjoy this transit!  Meanwhile the abundance of fiery planets – Mars in Aries, Mercury and the Sun in Sagittarius – get your energy going.  You’re inspired to get back to your jogging regimen, and to set goals and make plans.  The Sagittarius new moon and solar eclipse fall on the 14th, and this is a potent new moon.  Mercury and Neptune line up with the Sun and Moon, and so if there were ever a time to focus on healing, this is it. Use this new moon for inspiration and healing – for yourself, for loved ones, for everyone. Mars makes a little but important angle to the Sun on the 14th, bringing resolution to whatever issues Mars retrograde troubled you with throughout the fall.  Then Saturn and Jupiter sail into Aquarius on the 17th and 19th, respectively.  By the 21st the two planets will be so close in the night sky they will look like one big planet.  This  beautiful conjunction represents a profound shift in the structures of our lives, and for you, it’s a time for long-range planning and visioning.  Enjoy that Solstice, when the Sun enters your own sign!  It’s the return of the light!  And Mercury in Capricorn pairs with the Sun for a good few days when your prodigious brain will be firing on all its cylinders.  December – and 2020, thank you all the gods and goddesses, comes to a close with a December 29th Cancer full moon.  You’ll be a weepy, mushy, romantic mess, thanks to the moon and to Venus and Neptune.  it’s not bad to weep. Just warn your loved ones and keep the tissues at hand.

AQUARIUS (JAN 20-FEB 19)  Well, you get a nice gift from the universe this month…but I get ahead of myself!  December begins pretty calmly, and you feel more and more grounded as Jupiter approaches Saturn.  There are just a few days of uncertainty when The Sun makes an angle to Neptune on the 8th.   The powerful Sagittarius New Moon and eclipse falls on the 14th (as it happens, the day the US Electoral College meets).  The new moon is heavy with influences of Neptune and Mercury, so know that whatever prayers you’re sending out into the universe will be amplified zillion-fold.  The 14th also happens to be an important day in Mars’ orbit, laying to rest whatever issues and struggles showed up for you during the Mars retrograde period from September til mid November.   Then… (drumroll)… Saturn moves into Aquarius on the 17th, and Jupiter on the 19th.  Whew—finally, Saturn will be out of Capricorn, where it has ground away for what feels like endless eons.  This conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, and their entry into Aquarius, is very significant. By the Winter Solstice on the 21st, the planets will be so close together astronomically speaking, that they will look like one big planet.  Although Jupiter and Saturn come together about every 20 years, this transit will feel different to everyone – and especially to you.  Jupiter and Saturn conjunctions are about profound changes in the institutions of society, and this one may feel like the Age of Aquarius many  boomers have been waiting for …  God knows Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn have been hard at work shredding  social  structures– or revealing how dysfunctional they are.  Bring on Aquarian humanitarian values!  Revolutionize those social systems!  Personally, you will feel a grounding, a certainty about where you are in your life.  You’ll feel able to  make plans for the future.  Enjoy that Winter Solstice, baby!   Then month ends with a Cancer full moon on the 29th which, together with Venus and Neptune, has you all mushy and romantic.  Enjoy that too!

PISCES (FEB 20-MAR 19)  Change is afoot, that’s for sure!  December begins with a surprising amount of calm. We can chalk that up to Jupiter getting closer and closer to Saturn, and both of those planets moving away from Pluto.  There is also a fair amount of fiery energy about—the Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius, and Mars finally on the move in Aries, after its months of being stuck.  You feel more stable, and also more energized.  December 8th brings a few days of  Sun-Neptune drama, so expect to be back in a pickle of uncertainty and worry.  It’s quick, though, so don’t be worrying.  Deep breaths!  Then the 14th brings a whoppingly powerful Sagittarius new moon and eclipse.  This inspiring new moon has Mercury and Neptune influences all over it, so it is extra dreamy and extra inspirational. It also happens to be an important day in the Mars cycle, a day when Mars makes an angle to the Sun and completes and lays to rest any power struggles or issues that you – or the United States, as it’s the day of the Electoral College!— had to deal with during the Mars retrograde period from September through mid November.  Yes, I’m talking about resolution.  This is a great new moon for you to focus on connections, on healing, on spiritual and artistic practice. Then, a few days later Jupiter and Saturn both enter Aquarius, ushering in a whole new world. Seriously.   The institutions that Saturn and Pluto have pummeled to bits over the past couple of years will become re-structured, re-formed, re-envisioned, hopefully with Aquarian humanistic values.  By the 21st, the day of Winter Solstice, Saturn and Jupiter will be so close together in the sky that they will appear to be one big planet.  These planets come together every 20 years but this conjunction is especially impactful (check my monthly commentary for why) and will feel like a sea-change.  So for you, it’s time to look at the structures of your life. Decisions and changes that have been in the wings—bring them forward.  The month ends with that late December mushy Cancer full moon, this time on the 29th.   This one has strong Venus-Neptune influences.  Have a good cry, grieve, weep, and then celebrate the turn of the  year!!!

ARIES (MAR 20-APRIL19)  We are moving out of the past couple of years of angst, believe it it not!  December is a critical turning point, astrologically.  Jupiter and Saturn are coming very close together and are putting distance between themselves and Pluto. So things feel different; yes, there is crisis, but it doesn’t feel like the world is ending tomorrow.  Jupiter and Saturn, although they signify major changes in societal institutions they also bring a sense of stability, a sense that there are grown -ups in charge. But I get ahead of myself….  All of this is to say that even at the start of December you can feel the Jupiter Saturn vibe calming you down.  At the same time the fiery energy in the sky is inspiring you to action – Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius, and Mars in your own sign, which after its long retrograde, is beginning to pick up speed again, thank god.  You feel freer.  You can breathe again.  There are just a few days of uncertainty around the 8th, when the Sun lines up with Neptune.  It’s just a few days—you can work with that.  Then comes the big stuff.  The 14th brings a very powerful Sagittarian new moon and eclipse with major Mercury Neptune aspects.  This is a time for healing the planet. Meditate, envision, talk to your ancestors, pray.  The 14th is also an important day in Mars’ cycle when Mars makes an angle to the Sun, bringing resolution to whatever came up for you during the recent Mars retrograde period of the fall. (And yes, it’s the day the US Electoral College meets…) Then—Saturn enters Aquarius on the 17th, followed by Jupiter on the 19th. Woohoo!  Saturn is done with Capricorn for the next 29 years!  More importantly. This conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn is very important, ushering in a sea change, that goes to the heart of the foundations of our society.  Saturn is our bones, our structure, and Jupiter is what we believe in. For you personally, it is  a time of grounding, centering. And reshaping structures of your own life with humanistic Aquarian values.   If there ever were a year to celebrate the Winter Solstice this year, this would be it!   The month ends with the mushy and emotional Cancer full moon on the 29th.  The Venus Neptune aspects make it extra weepy, just sayin.

TAURUS (APR 20-MAY 20)  Well, a sea change is upon us, all right!  December starts in a calm way, thanks to Jupiter getting very close to Saturn and bringing a sense of stability, of things falling into place, not to mention a sense that grown ups will soon be in charge.  Jupiter and Saturn bring you groundedness and an ability to wrestle with structural questions about work, home, and money. Along with a sense of more calm, the fiery planets help you feel sparkier, better able to move your body, get outside, be active.  Mars in Aries is finally on the move again, after a serious doldrum.   December 8th brings some Sun in Sagittarius/Neptune in Pisces shenanigans, so expect some unclarity and plans to go wonky.  Then, the 14th brings a very powerful Sagittarius new moon and eclipse. (What do you know, it’s also the day the US Electoral College votes.)  There are major Mercury-Neptune influences, so it’s a good time to envision healing, peace, and “substance -of-we-feeling,” as Doris Lessing described a sense of connection to  all living things in her novel Shikasta.  It still may feel to you like we are living in  Shikasta or in an Octavia Butler novel, and the shadow of that is still with us,  but Jupiter and Saturn are about to bring us the Age of Aquarius…They are all about “substance -of -we feeling.”  But I digress!   Pray for peace, for health for the sick and ease for the dying.  It’s loving kindness all around.  December 14th is also an important day in the Mars cycle, and as Mars makes an angle to the Sun, it brings resolution to whatever struggles you experienced during the recent Mars retrograde.  Some things in your life should resolve. Saturn enters Aquarius on the 17th, followed by Jupiter on the 19th. Yay!  It’s time to infuse humanistic Aquarian values into the rebuilding of oppressive systems and social structures – on a big scale and in our daily lives.  On the Winter Solstice, the 21st, the Sun enters Capricorn and Jupiter and Saturn are so close as to seem like one giant planet.  It is the Return of the Light—for real.   The week of the 21st Mars and Pluto have you scheming and planning and organizing.  Be sure to be celebrating too, especially the Cancer Full moon that closes out the year on the 29th with Venus Neptune aspects of interconnectedness and mushiness.

GEMINI (MAY 21-JUNE 20)  Change is coming! December starts off quite calmly, as Jupiter gets closer and closer to Saturn and they both put some distance between themselves and Pluto…There is also nice fiery action in the sky—Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius get you  to have more fun, and Mars in Aries is starting to move again, inspiring more activity.  There are a few confounding days starting on the 8th when the Sun and Neptune give rise to unsettledness and confusion, but it passes.  Then the 14th brings a very powerful new moon and eclipse in your opposite sign of Sagittarius.  This lunation has strong Mercury Neptune aspects so it is an important new moon for healing the planet, and for praying for an end to the pandemic, and for ease for the sick.   It is also an important day in the Mars cycle, when Mars makes an angle to the Sun and resolves what was stirred up and conflictual during the recent Mars retrograde of the fall.  (Hmm, oddly enough, it’s the date of the US Electoral College…)  So expect somethings in your own life to get figured out or brought to closure.  Then it even gets better—Saturn Enters Aquarius on the 17th , followed by Jupiter on the 19th.  Although these two planets come together about every twenty years this conjunction is extremely close and very important. By the 21st, the Winter Solstice, the two planets will be so close they will look like one planet.  They are ushering in a new era, a time of rebuilding shattered structures, and infusing humanistic Aquarian values into that process.  Saturn is about structure, the bones of bodies and of institutions, and Jupiter is our belief systems.  Obviously changes in structures are happening in society, but changes also happen personally. It’s good time for you to reevaluate the work/joy balance, how you’re living, where you’re living, etc.  So celebrate the Winter Solstice for real—it does signify the Return of the Light.   Then the rest of the week is good for organizing and planning. The month ends with a ushy-gushy weepy full moon in Cancer on the 29th with beautiful Venus Neptune aspects.  Cry, grieve, celebrate, hope—in that order.

CANCER  (JUNE 21- JULY 21)  The times they are a-changing!  December starts off in a calm fashion, thanks to Jupiter getting close to Saturn and thanks to both of them leaving Pluto behind.  The Jupiter-Saturn effect is a stabilizing influence.   Remember that  Cancer’s fundamental question is: does this place/relationship/environment feel safe for me?, and while Saturn and Pluto were doing their wrecking ball thing over the  last few years,  the world has definitely not felt safe. So you are not sure you can trust this new feeling, this new feeling of not being on the cliff edge.  As the month unfolds, you will see that Jupiter and Saturn got you.  They got you—and you can trust it!  Meanwhile, other planetary influences are  inspiring more sparkiness in you. The Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius make you feel like engaging with people and ideas, for instance, and then Mars in Aries has started moving after its post-retrograde doldrum.  December 8th brings some Sun -Neptune action  that is a bit confusing and discombobulating, but it passes , so no need to stress.  Then there is a whoppingly powerful Sagittarius new moon and eclipse on the 14th. This lunation is all about healing – it is a good time to pray for the healing of the planet.  Neptune will magnify and amplify all those prayers. The 14th is also an important day in the Mars cycle, when it makes an angle to the Sun that should bring closure to whatever challenges and struggles you experienced during the recent Mars retrograde in the fall.  By the 19th both Jupiter and Saturn move out of Capricorn and into Aquarius! Now we’re talking – this is the sea-change.  On the Winter Solstice, the day the Sun enters Capricorn, your opposite sign, the two planets will be incredibly close together.  The celebration of the Return of the Light on the Solstice really will be that with this gorgeous Jupiter Saturn conjunction that ushers in humanistic values. Saturn has to do with social structures and with material reality, and Jupiter is our belief systems.  Who are we as a people? Who are you, and so the structures of your life match up with who you are?  Let Jupiter and Saturn give you some answers.  The month – and the year!—ends with a Cancer full moon on the 29th . It’s a mushy one, with strong Venus Neptune aspects.   Have a good cry and celebrate the connections and love in your life.

LEO (JUL 22-AUG 21)  I wrote last month that it is getting better, and this month is better yet.   Change really is afoot, thanks to Jupiter moving in close to Saturn and leaving Pluto behind.  Jupiter and Saturn are stabilizing, centering, giving you the sense that finally there are some grown ups running the show. So December starts with this vibe, and things definitely feel less fraught, even in the face of the pandemic.  In addition, the presence of fiery planets giving you some energy – the Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius are inspiring some sparkiness, and Mars in Aries has started moving again, releasing your desire to get some stuff done, dammit. December 8th brings a few days of Sun-Neptune confusion and even disappointment, but it moves fast so don’t be too attached.   Then on the 14th there is a big and powerful Sagittarius new moon and eclipse with intense Mercury Neptune influences.  It is a wonderful new moon to generate healing – for the planet, for all the people suffering.  The 14th is also an important day in the Mars cycle. Mars makes an angle to the Sun, and in so doing, brings resolution to conflicts and difficulties you might have had during the recent Mars retrograde this past fall.  Hmm, what do you know, the 14th is also the date of the US Electoral College… Curious and curiouser.  Then by the 19th Saturn and Jupiter both enter Aquarius, your opposite sign, ushering  in a sea change and I hope, a kind of Age of Aquarius that we could really use right about now. Although the two planets meet up every 20 years, this conjunction is particularly significant and astronomically close.  On the 21st, the day of the Winter Solstice, they will be so close in the sky so as to be appear to be one planet.   Saturn and Jupiter always bring changes to social structures and institutions – Saturn being the bones of things and Jupiter being our belief systems—so let’s have some humanistic Aquarian ideals inform the re-envisioning of systems.  For you personally it is also a good time to look at the structures of your life and whether they reflect who you are and what you believe.  In the meantime, ring in that Winter Solstice and the return of the light!  The month ends with an emotional and mushy Cancer full moon on the 29th—weep, grieve, celebrate, love.

VIRGO (AUG 22- SEPT 21)   Things are truly starting to feel better!  Jupiter has left Pluto is snuggling up to Saturn (how could I possibly use the words “snuggle” and “Saturn” in the same sentence, you wonder?! Read on.) The vibe has already shifted from, OMG the world as we know it is ending, to yes, we are in multiple severe crises, but at least the grown ups are gonna be in charge. So you do feel somewhat better, less tense.   You also have some spark and even in the context of the pandemic, see that actions are possible. The Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius bring some fiery energy and adventure your way, and even Mars in Aries, which has started to move again after its long doldrum, inspires spontaneity.  There are a few confusing days starting on the 8th when the Sun aspects Neptune and plans and clarity go pear-shaped, but it’s quick.  Then on the 14th, there is a very powerful Sagittarian new moon and solar eclipse, with a strong influence of Mercury and Neptune.   New moons are a potent concentration of potential energy, which why they are good for planning and new ventures.  This one is a healing moon – use it to project loving -kindness, pray for peace and health for the planet and everyone on it.   It is also the case that December 14th is an important day in the Mars cycle, bringing resolution to issues that may have been problematic during the recent Mars retrograde of the fall.  Interesting that it is the day the Us Electoral College meets… Just sayin.  Then the universe hands us a giant gift.  Jupiter catches up to Saturn and by the 19th they both have entered Aquarius, ushering in a major sea change. These two planets meet up every twenty years but this entry into Aquarius is part of a 200 year cycle, a cycle with has to do with profound changes in social structures.  The planets will be so close that they will appear as one big planet in the sky on the Winter Solstice, December 21st.  (You see- they are snuggling up!)  Saturn is structure and Jupiter is our belief systems; their entry into Aquarius will – I hope—bring an infusion of humanistic values into the re-envisioning, re-creating of social systems and institutions that Saturn and Pluto have recently shown us to be dysfunctional.  For you personally, use this time to look at the structures of your life and to align them with your values and belief system.   The month – and year!_– ends with a weepy and kinda delicious full moon in Cancer on the 29th.  The Venus Neptune influence makes it extra mushy.  Grieve those we’ve lost and celebrate what we have.

LIBRA (SEPT 22-OCT21) I said the angst would pass, didn’t I?  December doubles down on a sense of increasingly stability and centeredness.  Even in a pandemic, life goes on, and thank god, soon there will be grown ups in charge.  You’[re already feeling more grounded.  And you’re also quite an energized little bunny, hopping around and getting stuff done.  The Sun and Mercury in sagittarius bring some fiery inspiration and desire for adventure, and Mars in Aries is finally on the move again, inspiring you to take action.   There’s a slight hiccup on the 8th when the Sun aspects Neptune and things feel wonky and uncertain again, but don’t panic, it passes quickly.  Then there is a powerful new moon and solar eclipse in Sagittarius on the 14th. Wow—this new moon is all about healing.  Channel that healing energy, marshall all the loving -kindness you can and pray for the healing of the planet and everyone on it. Neptune will amplify those prayers a zillion-fold. In addition, the 14th is an important day in the Mars cycle when its angle to the Sun brings some resolution  to whatever power struggles or difficulties you had during the recent Mars retrograde.  And what do you know, it’s the day if the US Electoral College. Interesting, huh?  Then Saturn enters Aquarius on the 17th, followed by Jupiter on the 19th. Yay!  This is an incredibly important shift in energy—Saturn and Jupiter have been in Capricorn (along with Pluto, which is still  there) for what feels like endless eons of being ground to a pulp along with our entire society. So yay! Again.  Saturn and Jupiter are ushering a kind of age of Aquarius ( I know, go ahead and sing the song from the 1960’s musical Hair…I know you want to!) that we could really use about now.  They are so close on the Winter Solstice that they look like one big planet.  Ring in that Winter Solstice – it signifies the Return of the Light, and so it is. The light is returning:  let’s have those humanistic Aquarian values inform the rebuilding  of Saturn-Jupiter structures and belief systems.  For you, it’s also time to re-envision the structures of your life: work, especially work, and work, and where you live, and the belief systems that undergird you.  The month and year end with a beautiful and very mushy Cancer full moon on the 29th. It’s a weeper.  We have a lot to grieve, and also to celebrate.

SCORPIO (OCT 22-NOV 21)   Like Leonard Cohen wrote, there is a crack in everything; that’s how the light gets in.  This month, the light is getting in.  Jupiter is moving closer and closer to Saturn, bringing a sense of stability and possibility. There is a lot of movement in the universe right now, and December just brings more of it.   The presence of fiery planets in the sky inspires more action and inspiration in you—the Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius  inspire movement and adventure, in of course a socially distanced way!  Mars in Aries is finally on the move, and you find yourself making plans and setting goals again, after kind of a long doldrum this fall.  There are a few days around the 8th when you feel yourself lose some steam, but it passes quickly. On the 14th there is a very powerful Sagittarius new moon and eclipse with heavy Mercury Neptune influences.  This is a healing moon, a praying moon.  Get outside and do what you do best: generate some psychic energy, some healing force and pray for peace for the planet,  for health for the sick, protection for everyone, and ease for the dying.  The Neptune influence really magnifies the healing impact.   The 14th is also an important day in the Mars cycle, and so whatever troubled you during the recent Mars retrograde period of the fall should have some resolution. Interesting, isn’t it, that it’s the day the Electoral College meets…  Then Saturn enters Aquarius on the 17th, followed by Jupiter on the 19th. By the 21st these two planets are so close they will appear to be one planet in the night sky.  Woohoo!  Their entry into Aquarius and their conjunction signifies a major sea-change, an ushering in of a time  of Aquarian humanistic values. Yay.  Saturn and Jupiter have to do with the structures and institutions of society and the belief systems that enliven them.  Change is here—the light has gotten in.  The Winter Solstice  on the 21st, the day the Sun enters Capricorn, is the celebration of the Return of the light.   For you as well, let the light in and look at the structures in your life and how they can better reflect your beliefs.    The month and the year end with a mushy, emotional, beautiful full moon in Cancer on the 29th.   Grieve, cry, laugh, celebrate.
