PISCES (FEB 20-MAR 19) Welcome to March is right! Holy crap! Mars turns retrograde on the 1st, continuing our strange season of retrogrades. March 1st is also a new moon in Pisces – actually a beautiful new moon sitting together with Chiron. If your birthday is around the 1st of March, get ready for a year of confronting your power. The Mars retrograde influence is curious and will definitely create some tension
for you. You may find yourself being more forceful than usual, and certainly more than how you imagine yourself to be. There is an interesting interplay between Mars and Venus right now, so your values are driving the show and Mars is tagging behind. That influence, together with the Sun –Moon-Chiron effect insists that you assert yourself. You’ll be chafing at any confinement or restriction. Now, if your birthday is in the first few days of Pisces, Neptune is all over you, making you dreamy and creative and perhaps a tad unreliable. For all of you Pisceans, however, it is a month of fits and starts. After this strange Mars retro kickoff to the month, during the second week of March there is a big fat square between Mercury and Saturn. This is great for intense mental focus, yet could also contribute to a fair amount of tension and worry. Watch for the full moon in Virgo on the 16th, when all that tension could turn into a big bubble of angst. Then Mercury enters your own sign on the 17th and catches up to Neptune by the 21st. (Meanwhile it is officially spring on the 20th—woo hoo!) You’re spacey and vulnerable for a few days but it passes quickly. As the month goes on, the Uranus-Pluto square gets quite exact again and so the world is filled with drama. The Mercury-Neptune effect will insulate you a bit from it, but the new moon in Aries on the 30th highlights the dramatic nature of our times. The month ends with good energy for commitment.
ARIES (MAR 20-APRIL19) Oh jeez. Your ruling planet Mars turns retrograde March 1st, and in your opposite sign Libra, no less. Get ready to feel out of control for much of the next few months… It might be hard for you to go with the flow of Mars retrograde but you really must. It is the only way to deal with it, especially for most of this month. This month Mars retrogrades while making interesting angles to Venus and some outer planets, subjecting you to the force of others’ personalities and desires. If you’re used to getting your way, well….. You’re a bit like the Ukraine in relation to Russia. Chafing at the bit, rising up,
speaking truth to power, and then here comes the smackdown…. But it’s not a bad month for you (really!) – it’s just intense. The new moon in Pisces on March 1st sets a tone of healing, and the second week of March brings very focused mental activity. The full moon in Virgo on the 16th continues that mental focus and sheds light on something you need to see. Then the Sun enters Aries on March 20, the Spring Equinox . The Mercury-Neptune aspects that week are really good for inspiration and healing. Meanwhile the aspects between Uranus and Pluto get very exact again, and are triggered by the New Moon in Aries on the 30th. It will be a transformative time in your life, and also a fulfilling one, as Jupiter helps push the change process along. Expect relationship breakthroughs as Venus and Saturn help you recommit to projects and relationships.
TAURUS (APR 20-MAY 20) What a strange month! First of all, Mars goes retrograde on the 1st for two and a half months. Oy!! This energy will flummox you, quite frankly, especially this month, when it seems you‘re at the mercy of everyone else’s drama and craziness. Other people’s agendas wield a great deal of power right now, and there ain’t much you can do about it. The only thing you can really do for the first couple of weeks of March is to act like a Pisces and just don’t worry about anything. Just go with the flow. Things you need to do will get done in spite of themselves and in spite of you. Be forewarned: the second week of March might be very stressful because Saturn and Mercury make a big angle to each other and to
you. Expect to feel tense and to have some technological or travel problems. However, it is a great week for focused mental work and for writing. Then there is a full moon in Virgo on the 16th which should allow you to address some earthy projects and take a break from thinking. Do some planting! Right after the full moon there are excellent aspects for creative inspiration, and then it’s the Spring Equinox on the 20th, which makes you very happy. The last 10 days of March are very intense as the Uranus-Pluto square really kicks in again, ramping up world tensions. Use the new moon at the end of the month for recommitment and deep work in relationships.
GEMINI (MAY 21-JUNE 20) March 1st brings a whopping New Moon in Pisces and the start of Mars retrograde. Things are really unclear and changeable and weird, and that’s just how they are going to be for a while. The Mars retrograde effect is exaggerating everyone’s impact on each other while also making us all feel easily victimized. Not pretty! The second week of March brings a very tight Mercury-Saturn square
so expect some tension, which then culminates on the 16th with the Virgo full moon. Your job is to try not to have a thin skin. The good news is that Jupiter makes a nice angle to Uranus which is a good combination for opportunities. With Mars retrograde in the mix you should expect the unexpected. Anything is possible right now—remember that! Right after the Spring Equinox (yay!) Mercury enters Pisces and catches up to Neptune. If you are an early Gemini, expect to the spaced out and distracted and good for nothing but binge-watching reruns of NCIS. There is a new moon in Aries on the 30th which highlights all the tumultuousness of the Uranus-Pluto business so the world will be nuts and people will be stressed. Your only recourse is to commit to something that you value –a creative endeavor, an organizing effort, a relationship.
CANCER (JUNE 21- JUL 21) The start of March is downright odd, as we move from Mercury retrograde to Mars retrograde. This long and slow stretch of Mars retrograde occurs in the sign Libra, which makes a big angle to you. For the first couple of week of the month you feel pulled by forces out of your control, especially in relationships. Keep in mind that Mars retrograde can be full of surprises, and what you expect to happen may not and process will unfold in a completely different way. It is important that you go with the flow even as plans change, and it is also important to remember that right now, you
have more of an impact on others than you realize. During the second week of March Mercury and Saturn make a very exact angle to each other, which is excellent for hard mental work, study, and writing. But it can also be a tense aspect, and that tension is likely to build and then culminate around the full moon in Virgo. Be sure to pay attention to self-care and not be overwrought. Then comes the Spring Equinox on the 20th – yay! — and a few days of dreamy inspiration. The new moon in Aries on the 30th highlights world crises, so do what you can to stay calm. On the 30th and 31st the Venus-Saturn aspects will help you commit to a project or a relationship.
LEO (JUL 22-AUG 21) The parade of weird aspects continues for you, starting with Mars retrograde on the 1st. Oy! This is a long and slow transit which begins with people in your life expressing their will and power in some surprising ways. You don’t have a lot of control over what is happening around you, andthat’s just the way it is…..You’ve got to go with the flow, even as you chafe against all the displays of
power going on around you. The second week of March brings a tight Saturn Mercury square in Scorpio/Aquarius respectively. Although it is a good time for mental focus you may feel really tense and controlling. Again, being controlling just doesn’t cut it right now. It simply won’t work, so try to relax — although the Virgo full moon on the 16th kind of works against relaxation. Use that Virgo full moon for healing and self-care. But then things look up – it is Spring, after all, on the 20th, and the Sun enters Aries. Mercury catches up to Neptune in Pisces for a few days, which is a good time to pay attention to creative inspiration and get into the studio. The new moon in Aries on the 30th is very influenced by the tumultuous Uranus-Pluto square, so put on your seatbelt .
VIRGO (AUG 22- SEPT 21) Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Mars goes retrograde on the 1st, on the same day as a beautiful new moon in your opposite sign of Pisces. What a strange combination of influences! On the one hand, the new moon – which sits with Chiron – is all about healing any blocks to self -expression. Mars retrograde makes some interesting aspects to Venus and the North Lunar Node, making people
exercise their power in some very unconscious ways. What does all this mean, you wonder? It means that we have a couple of weeks of sharp elbows. And you Virgos, along with your Pisces, Gemini, and Sag brethren and sistren, are particularly needing to take up space and are not so aware of what you’re doing…. This makes for really interesting interactions and even conflicts. Mars retrograde makes everyone feel easily put upon, so expect some tensions. Remember that Mars retrograde is also about process, so the tensions and power struggles are actually productive. Tensions become more obvious the second week of March when the Mercury-Saturn square makes you especially anxious. It is a good week for focused mental work but also for argument. Tensions build up to the Virgo full moon on the 16th, so be careful. Then things shift –Mercury catches up to Neptune in Pisces for a few days of dreamy inspiration. The end of the month moves the focus onto the world and more Uranus-Pluto tumult.
LIBRA (SEPT 22-OCT21) Oh baby! Mars turns retrograde in Libra on March 1st! It begins its retrograde pass at the very tail end of Libra and works its way back up to 10 degrees by the time it turns back around in late May. So this Mars retrograde event is really important for you and you will feel triggered like crazy. It starts out at the beginning of March with a number of complex aspects that have everything to do with sheer force of will. Kind of like Putin and the Ukraine. People in your life are
throwing their power around and you can’t stand it. Situations that you may have put up with suddenly feel unsupportable. This isn’t a bad thing but it does make life a bit unpredictable. Everyone is reactive and life is in a great deal of flux. You really have no choice but to go with it, as out of control as you may feel. However, going with the flow might be especially challenging during the second week of March, when Mercury squares Saturn. It is a good time for sharp, focused mental work but not a good time for argument. You’ll be feeling increasingly critical and tense and the tension builds all the way up to the Virgo full moon on the 16th. Remember that Mars retrograde is really good for process, so whatever conflicts arise during this period will be worked out in important and instructive ways. Then Mercury enters Pisces and catches up to Neptune. You know what that means? Time to binge -watch Long island Medium. I highly recommend that strategy since the rest of the month returns the planetary focus onto really crazy political and environmental mishegas, which will just give you a giant Mars-sized headache.
SCORPIO (OCT 22-NOV 21) Okay, here goes…..Mars goes retrograde March 1st. Keep in mind that in the old days before Pluto was discovered, Mars was considered to be the ruling planet of Scorpio. So, this stretch of Mars retrograde is really important for you, even though at times you will experience incredible frustration. Scorpionic force of will is a rather famous quality, and while Mars is retrograde, everyone gets
a jolt of Mars juice. You and your Aries friends are not the only feisty ones. This is especially true at the start and the end of Mars’ retrograde trip, so for the first two weeks of March there are many expressions of raw power coming from surprising quarters….. This will keep you on your toes and will create the opportunity for some really productive emotional process and conflict resolution. During the second week of March, Mercury squares Saturn and although it is a great aspect for focused mental work, communication might be chunky and you could find yourself really digging in your heels. Tension builds all the way up to the full moon in Virgo on the 16th. Use that lunation for some much-needed self-care. Then it’s the Spring Equinox (yay!) and a few days of dreamy intuitive Mercury-Neptune energy. The end of the month brings another bout of feistiness, especially in the world stage.
SAGITTARIUS (NOV 22- DEC 21) This is an interesting month! The combination of Mars going retrograde and the big Pisces new moon on the 1st facilitate a certain untrammeled expression of will and power on your part. So be careful – your already rather generous force field is really really big right now
and your impact on others is huge. The interesting part is that many people are throwing their weight around , especially during the first couple of weeks of March, and so power struggles and ego clashes abound. But the good thing about Mars retrograde is that it creates the context for productive process and conflict resolution. Pay attention the second week of March when Mercury squares Saturn and communication gets kind of intense. People will be prone to dig their heels in, tempers may flare, and you could find yourself in high dudgeon. Tension will build until it culminates on the Virgo full moon on the 16th. Then it’s the Spring Equinox (yay!) and a few days of Mercury Neptune dreaminess, until more Uranus Pluto drama grips the world on the new moon in Aries on the 30th.
CAPRICORN (Dec 21-Jan19) It’s true – the retrograde planets are slamming you. You’ve gone from Venus retrograde in Capricorn to Mercury retrograde, and now on March 1st along comes Mars retrograde. Because it is in Libra, it is making a big angle to Capricorn and triggering you like crazy. All you can do is go with it, because you have no control whatsoever over what is happening. This Mars retrograde event,
especially as it starts off this month, facilitates many expressions of raw power and will on the parts of many people. So you may find yourself having some clashes – but keep in mind that Mars retrograde also facilitates process, so we see really interesting resolutions unfold. The main thing for you is to not be attached to outcome, or to your plans, and to know that everyone has sharp elbows right now and everyone is feeing equally victimized. Fun. The second week in March brings good aspects for deep mental work – and also for stubbornness. My advice is to avoid argument as much as possible and use the Mercury Saturn aspects for learning. Tension will build up until the Virgo full moon on the 16th, when there is a danger of being too self- critical. Try to focus on self- care, and then Mercury and Neptune help you go with the flow. Lay low at the end of the month when the world will be having another Uranus-Pluto spasm of craziness.
AQUARIUS (JAN 20-FEB 19) March is a helluva month, starting off with a New Moon in Pisces and the beginning of two + months of Mars retrograde. This initial stretch of Mars retro is all about people throwing their weight around in relationships – especially your Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sag friends. So
people have agendas and needs and they are being willful as hell about them. You’re sitting there figuring out how not to be hurt or annoyed….. The second week of March brings excellent aspects for hard mental work but the aspects also complicate communication. People may be stubborn and argumentative. You have to go with the flow and not engage. Tensions build up til they culminate on the Virgo full moon on the 16th. Use this full moon to get your house in order because you will see very clearly what is out of whack, and try to restrain your criticism and self-criticism. Just learn from it. Happy Spring Equinox on the 20th! Then we head into more intensity on the world stage so use Venus in Aquarius to support your constant drive to have fun and enjoy life!
