CAPRICORN (Dec 21-Jan19) What a month! January kicks off with a Sun-Pluto conjunction in your own sign, which makes for a certain amount of intensity and focus. Don’t go overboard with your New Year’s resolutions, okay? You will get a lot done in the first week or so when the Mars Saturn square gives you the oomph you need to actualize the plans you cooked up on New Year’s. You’re kind of brooding and serious in the week leading up to the new moon in Capricorn on the 11th. This is a big new moon – it aspects
the Earth axis. It’s a good lunation for you – in part because new moons in one’s own sign are always a good time for focusing our creative powers and making new plans – but also because Venus will have just entered Capricorn and Venus in Cap is kind of delicious. Warm and sensuous and lovely. This new moon may feel kind of heavy because of the Mars-Saturn square, but even so, it is really good for you and you should generate a new action plan. The one you made on New Year’s is not as important as this one on January 11th. Remember that! Then mid-month Mercury in Capricorn catches up to the Sun and all your earlier brooding gives way to lots of ideas and communicativeness. The only thing you’re serious about is relationships and getting closer to people. There are nice intimacy transits at the end of the month – around the 24th, giving way to some pressure at the end of January when the Sun squares Saturn. This month, even the Saturn aspects are not too bad – they are more about learning and studying and creating models than they are about hindrance.
AQUARIUS (JAN 20-FEB 19) Well, you’re all serious this month! Lighten up, for god’s sake! Work
work work, plan plan plan—that’s all you’re doing. In fact, the aspects at the start of the month are really good for work. The Sun and Pluto are conjunct in Capricorn and then Mars and Saturn are squared in Aquarius and Scorpio respectively. That’s some serious focus you have going on there! Here is the thing – Capricorn is also about the earth, and sensuality, so especially once Venus enters Cap on the 8th, try to enjoy the other parts of your life. Indulge your body a bit; pamper yourself. The new moon in Capricorn on the 11th continues the focus on planning, which is great, but be careful to not force your will too strongly on situations. The Mars Saturn square is a potent one, giving you the ability to push through anything to completion, especially with Mars in your own sign of Aquarius. (Jeez – too bad you’re not in Congress – something might actually get accomplished!) Mid month Mercury catches up to the Sun, freeing up your mental energy and helping you make some nice connections. The Sun and Mercury enter your own sign on the 19th, which is really great for communication. Mars and the North Lunar Node square up to facilitate joint efforts and intimacy. Then by the 25th, Mercury makes a quick square to Saturn. You’ll have a few days of focused mental work and maybe some technology breakdowns. Stay calm – the full moon in Leo on the 26th will help break the logjam. You close the month with some very focused studying. Have I mentioned “focus”? That’s what the month is about!
PISCES (FEB 20-MAR 19) This is a month for getting things done, for feeling powerful and bringing to fruition those plans you’ve been ruminating on for a while. Just don’t forget to have a good time while you do that! The aspects make you a bit serious at the start of the month – people close to you may even think you’re downright taciturn, which god knows isn’t your usual mode. If you can’t get to those creative projects
you’re yearning for you may feel a bit hemmed in by circumstance. The new moon on the 11th is in Capricorn and is absolutely great for focusing and making new plans. Don’t be frustrated by not completing things just yet – it’s only the beginning! It’s a time for conceptualization – completion comes later in the month. In addition to all this planful energy, there are some interesting aspects occurring for you. If you are an early Pisces, born in the first week of that sign, then you have been under an especially strong Neptune influence for what feels like eons. Neptune has been hanging out around 1 degree Pisces for a year now and will continue to for another. This influence is one of extreme sensitivity and yearning, feeling a sense of “divine discontent.” It also makes you spacey as all get- out. It is critical for you to harness your creative energies right now and also set up a regular spiritual practice. All Pisces are influenced by the square between Jupiter and Chiron – especially those of you born around Feb 25th. This influence pushes you to grapple with some old issues and not only transcend them but also transform them into something useful for humanity. No pressure or anything! But back to the mundane realities of January…..There is a great combination for connection and intimacy around the 25th, culminating in a lovely full moon in Leo on the 26th.
ARIES (MAR 20-APRIL19) All the Capricorn energy in the sky – and god knows there
is a lot of it– will stimulate you and chafe at you a bit. The emphasis this month is on setting some plans in motion. You have been ruminating on things and for the first week you will be kind of serious and internally-focused. You’re chewing on things, and Saturn and Mars are helping you decide where the restructuring needs to occur. In the midst of all this cogitation, Venus enters Capricorn on the 8th, so please enjoy it and don’t miss its sensuality and sense of earthy beauty. The new moon in Capricorn on the 11th is a big one, and it is then that you can begin to set some plans into motion. Right after that Mercury catches up the Sun and you will be firing on all cylinders, full of ideas and communication. This is true most of the month, at least until it enters Aquarius and squares Saturn around the 25th. That could cause some tension and pressure in you, exacerbated by the full moon in Leo on the 26th. Around the 24th there are wonderful aspects for intimacy and connection – again, don’t miss out because you’re so vertutzt about thing that aren’t really important. The end of the month is a good time for studying or reformulating some structure in your life. The Sun will be squaring Saturn, and as it does so, it pulls in the influences of other planets that facilitate spiritual or philosophical study.
TAURUS (APR 20-MAY 20) This month is mostly about work for you earthy Taureans,
with some nice interludes of intimacy. There is a lot of planetary action in Capricorn – another highly productive and earthy sign. But that’s not the only thing that points to work. First, the Sun is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn for the first few days of January. You’re cooking up something, planning, cogitating, gestating. Then Mars and Saturn are squared, giving you the tools to focus all that planning energy, setting you up nicely for the new moon in Capricorn in the 11th. This is a great lunation that pulls in the earthy sensuality of Venus in Capricorn. If there ever were a new moon for planning, this is the one. Get on it! Figure some stuff out, especially as it relates to green building, sustainability, the environment. Bury yourself in seed catalogs and lay out your garden. Or find a steambath and let Venus in Capricorn do its thing on your body! Right after the new moon, Mercury catches up to the Sun and you have a few weeks of great mental energy, followed by wonderful intimacy aspects the third week of the month. Then Mercury squares Saturn around the 25th, giving you a few days of mental tension and perhaps a computer crash or two. The full moon in Leo on the 26th releases any mental stuckness you’ve been feeling, and you get right down to work again. Try to have some fun in the midst of all this work!
GEMINI (MAY 21-JUNE 20) Can we have a chat about Jupiter in Gemini please? Although the aspects this month are dominated by wonderful work-related, highly focused Capricornian energy, your concern is Jupiter, and also Chiron and Neptune. You’re having a different month from everyone else – not bad, just different. Let me explain…. Jupiter is in Gemini, retrograding slowly and hanging out at about 6 degrees of that sign all month, making a square to Chiron in Pisces. Jupiter in Gemini is important for all Geminis, but especially if you were born around June 1st. Then you’re getting the Jupiter Chiron square
right on the nose. Don’t panic – it is a really good combination, one that pushes us to engage our creativity and healing energies, accidentally for the good of the planet. I say “accidentally” because that is not the overt intent but it is a very important by-product. In other words, whatever impulses you have to express yourself creatively or through healing arts must be made manifest. It is critical that you do this, and what you do helps all of us – sounds corny, I know. Resisting this impulse is futile – or actually, resistance will just make you cranky and depressed. Jupiter in Gemini is powerful and poignant because it puts you in touch with all the ways you feel fulfilled and all the ways you don’t. So— January’s aspects are very good for crafting plans and gestating them. The new moon on the 11th is a really good time to generate some plans. You hafta. You gotta. No ifs ands or buts about it.
CANCER (JUNE 21- JUL 21) Well, well – what a great month for you. The Sun and a pigpile of other planets are in Capricorn for most of the month, stretching you, pulling you, inspiring you. Keep in mind that Capricorn is your opposite sign, and as such, it is the flip
side of Cancer. Capricorn takes that Cancerian watery rootedness and utilizes it as fuel for work in the world. Both signs are cardinal and fall on critical points of the earth axis — the solstices that mark the retreat and the advent of the sun’s light. Although an earth sign, Capricorn’s crazy squiggle of a symbol is the mythological ‘sea goat,’ affirming Capricorn’s connection with the realm of the sea and of feeling. So—back to January. The start of the month is marked by a conjunction of the Sun and Pluto in Capricorn. You’re gestating some plans, developing some ideas. The second week the Saturn Mars square kicks in, and you’re all about work and getting things done. I wouldn’t do too much or make many commitments because the new moon is yet to come on the 11th. And what a new moon it is! It aspects the earth axis and pulls in Venus in Capricorn. This is the time for generating plans and ideas. Then Mercury in Capricorn catches up to the Sun and we have a good few weeks of that – it’s great for mental energy and communication. The third week brings nice combinations for intimacy, followed by the full moon in Leo on the 26th. You’re fired up! Then the Sun squares Saturn at the end of the month and you’re focused and studying something very deeply.
LEO (JUL 22-AUG 21) Oh baby! Gotta take action! There is a ton of Capricorn energy in the sky for the first few weeks of the month, with a strong emphasis on developing projects and plans. First, the Sun-Pluto square the first week of January has you cooking up something good. The Mars Saturn square makes you want to act on it and will it into being, but I would hold off a tad. Try to hold your horses and wait til the new moon in Capricorn on the 11th, which is just great for conceptualizing and generating new plans. That is followed by a few weeks of a Sun-Mercury conjunction which is all about firing on all cylinders mentally. This is especially true for you around the 19th and 20th, once both the Sun and Mercury enter Aquarius, your opposite sign. If you are an
early Leo – born between July 22nd and 26th – you will really feel the spark of that Mercury mental energy. Pay close attention to your ideas and any connections you make with people. It is a good time to write or to communicate on any level. Then Mercury speeds away from the Sun and squares Saturn right around the full moon in Leo on the 26th. Beware of frustration and miscommunication or the tension that arises from feeling creatively stifled… The full moon should release any writer’s block or any other creative block you may be enduring. Use the Sun Saturn square at the end of the month to get down to business.
VIRGO (AUG 22- SEPT 21) This is an interesting month for you, between the earthy
Capricorn pressures to get things done, and the influences of Jupiter and Chiron that inspire healing and creative expression. Such a quandary! Let’s start with the easy stuff: The first couple of weeks of January are great for germinating ideas and plans. Whatever you are thinking about, you should keep your cards close to your chest, not because there is anything wrong with sharing these thoughts but more because you need to nurture them internally before bringing them into the light. You may feel some external pressures the first week of January – and that is another reason to stay quiet. Then the new moon in Capricorn on the 11th is a beautiful one for making new plans and crafting strategies. This is followed by a nice Sun-Mercury conjunction for a few weeks that emphasizes information exchange and strong mental energy. But the backdrop is the Jupiter-Chiron square I referred to above. This square pushes you to stretch and although it might be uncomfortable, it is a time to engage in healing and creative expression. In doing so you are able to heal some old personal issues from the past and become an unplanned and unforeseen inspiration to others. Something bigger than you is operating here – that’s what Jupiter and Chiron are all about. Allow an intuitive sense of meaning to guide you.
LIBRA (SEPT 22-OCT21) Ha! Just when you thought you could hole up in a corner and
do your work, along comes January with its surprises. It is a great month for work, mind you, and it is also about being powerful in the world. The month begins with a Sun Pluto conjunction – talk about power. You’re in a very strong, solid place, and you have more heft than you realize. A bigger force field than you know, shall we say. The Mars Saturn square gives you a great capacity for work and also provides some external stress. You’re feeling a bit pressured, and that’s not so fun. Make sure you have some fun, and Venus will help you do that when it enters Capricorn on the 8th. The new moon on January 11th is a beautiful one, and that is the time to gestate some new inspirations and ideas. Don’t sweat anything – just let the new moon take care of it. Seriously. Mid-month Mercury catches up to the Sun and spends the next few weeks marching in step with it – this is a wonderful combination for mental energy, exchange of ideas, and all around communication. There is a brief period of a Mercury Saturn square around the 25th that could cause you some tension or a crashed hard drive – but it passes quickly. Take advantage of excellent intimacy transits that week as well, all leading up to a big old full moon in Leo on the 26th. Get ready for some big expression! Then it’s Sun-Saturn time, good for school, for commitments, for studying, for setting up effective structures.
SCORPIO (OCT 22-NOV 21) This is an interesting month for you — as if you ever lack for inspiration or ideas…..! January starts out with some stress and pressure, and you have just had it with pressure and work. You would like a break, thank you very much. Just let everything roll until the new moon in Capricorn on January 11th. It is a beautiful new
moon, and more than usual, this is a great one for conceiving new plans and projects, especially those that involve construction and building. Then Mercury catches up to the Sun and this Sun –Mercury conjunction is very stimulating for you on the idea front. It is a great month for communication and exchange of ideas. Then the Sun and Mercury enter Aquarius on the 19th, and right after that you should take a break and have some R and R – the transits are really favorable for intimacy. There are a few days of mental tension and computer trouble but it passes quickly and the full moon in Leo on the 26th should release and logjams, emotionally or otherwise. Saturn is in your own sign now, and at the end of the month, the Sun makes a square to it. Saturn is positioned with some other planets that have a lot to do with spiritual practice – the end of the month is a good time to put some structures into place for spiritual study.
SAGITTARIUS (NOV 22- DEC 21) This month is a delicate balance between focusing on work and trusting Jupiter and Chiron to trust in the greater meaning of your work. The aspects are great this month for reinvigorating your relationship to work and for developing new plans. Focus is the key word! At the start of the month your work takes off but you’re
still in holiday mode. Better strike while the iron is hot. Everyone wants a piece of you and you can’t figure out why. The Sun Pluto conjunction in Capricorn means you have to take your own power more seriously. Then Mars and Saturn conspire to make you take action and get it together on the work front. The new moon in Capricorn on the 11th is a particularly great lunation for gestating new ideas and projects. Like I said – focus! Mid month Mercury catches up to the Sun and marches in tandem with it for a few weeks – this facilitates communication, inspiration, and exchange of ideas. Your challenge is to allow Chiron and Jupiter to push you to a higher level of work. There is a way in which you are not completely taking yourself seriously – and that has to change. Sagittarian proclivities towards arrogance aside, you need to really look at what it is you bring to your work and identify it as uniquely important. In allowing yourself to be stretched, you will have greater impact on the world…. And god knows every Sag wants that!
