SAGITTARIUS (NOV 22- DEC 21)  Wow, December has a lot going on, fellow Sag’s!  It opens with Mercury in Sag tracking close to the Sagittarian Sun through the 4th, stimulating that big brain of yours — you are busy and full of ideas. The Sagittarius new moon and total eclipse occurs in the wee hours of the 4th, along with a juicy Mars-Jupiter angle.  This is a great lunation for planning, but keep an eye on your reactivity which could be exaggerated with all the Sagittarian fire in the sky and the eclipse.  Meanwhile Venus in Capricorn spends the entire month cozying up to Pluto, as it slows down getting ready for its retrograde on December 19th (more on that in a minute).  Venus and Pluto are nothing if not intense, and you will be bringing a lot of irresistible intensity to relationships and to all your passions, whatever they are. By the 7th Mercury moves past the Sun and catches up to an angle to Neptune for a few days of dreaminess and sensitivity, but the Mars -Jupiter angle is wonderful for getting things done and having a sense of purpose. By the 11th the Sag Sun lines up with Neptune and you may feel like you’re missing something, wanting something you don’t have.  The other month-long influence, of course, is the Saturn-Uranus angle which dominated the sky for much of this year. It’s back, and you will need to restructure the restructuring you did in the spring – I mean that, it’s not a typo!   It’s all good— the changes you made earlier this year need tweaking.  Then, the Gemini full moon falls late on the 18th , on the eve of Venus turning retrograde.  Hmm.  The Gemini full moon brings a lot of debate and probably some global upsets since it makes an angle to the Saturn-Uranus business.  But—Venus retrograde, now that’s an interesting transit, lasting for 40 days every year and a half.   That it is paired with Pluto makes it even more interesting. Venus retrograde is a reflective time, where it becomes clear where your life lines up with your values and where it doesn’t.  There is a side of Venus and a side of Pluto in Capricorn that has to do with resources, so you want to pay attention to where you are putting resources of time, energy, and money during this transit.   The winter solstice falls on the 21st, when the Sun enters Capricorn.  The Saturn-Uranus square is exact on December 24th.  By the 28th Mercury in Capricorn catches up to Venus and Pluto. Interesting—it is time for open discussion about needs and wants, values and resources.  Jupiter enters Pisces in early moments of the 28th, uplifting some “substance of we- feeling” and interconnectedness.  That’s a good note on which to end the year!

CAPRICORN (Dec 21-Jan19)  December is a big month for you, honey!  First, it begins with a stimulating transit of Mercury and the Sun, paired up in Sagittarius for a few days.  You are bubbling with ideas.  Keep them bubbling through the Sagittarius new moon and eclipse on the 4th, and use Mars and Jupiter to create some plans around your big ideas.  Keep in mind two major month-long influences this month:  one is the return of the Saturn-Uranus square, bringing breakdown and then rebuilding, and the second is that Venus is conjunct Pluto for all of December. Moreover, Venus turns retrograde on the 19th for 40 days— in Capricorn, and on top of Pluto, no less.  Ooh la la.   You will turning some intense desire onto someone or something this month, in a firehose fashion.  More on Venus retrograde in a minute… Meanwhile the very satisfyingly purpose Mars-Jupiter angle takes us from the 4th through 9th, while Mercury moves away from the Sun and makes an angle to Neptune.   Use this quick transit for creative inspiration and visioning. By the 11th the Sun catches up to its angle to Neptune so be sure you are seeing a situation clearly. The Gemini full moon falls on the 18th and picks up the influence of Saturn and Uranus, exaggerating uncertainty and a sense of crisis for everyone.  Venus in Capricorn turns retrograde on the 19th, and this will be a very important transit for you.  It isn’t usually dramatic, but more reflective – of course, its proximity to Pluto will likely make it more intense.  Venus retrograde will help you get very clear about where you are putting your energy and resources.  Just let the awareness unfold, and keep the focus on your values.  It will be an important time to review financial decisions in particular.  Then the Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st and it’s the Winter Solstice!  Yay—the return of the light!   The Saturn-Uranus square is exact on December 24th,  so put on your seatbelt.  By the 28th Mercury in Capricorn catches up to Venus and Pluto, sparking discussion and thinking about matters of the heart and wallet.  Jupiter enters Pisces in early moments of the 28th, which should humanize all of us!

AQUARIUS (JAN 20-FEB 19)  Get ready– December is kinda intense!  There are two month-long influences that are likely to be somewhere between interesting and stressful.  (Don’t you hate it when an astrologer says “interesting”!?)  The Saturn -Uranus square, the dramatic aspect of confrontation and upheaval that dominated the sky through the summer, is not only back this month but it will be exact just in time for Christmas.  And—Venus in Capricorn sits together with Pluto all month long, as it slows to a crawl getting ready for its retrograde on the 19th.  Venus and Pluto have to do with intense desire and commitment, and the retrograde will bring 40 days of reflection about where you are putting  your energy and resources.  There is a side of this that has very much to do with money, and classically, astrologers would say ”buyer beware” under Venus retrograde.  So be careful to get clear about aligning your values with your investments of time, money, and energy during this Venus retrograde.  But back to the month at hand!  December begins with a fun and stimulating  few days of Mercury in Sag catching up to the Sun. You are brimming with ideas, and you will be an idea factory on the new moon in Sag and solar eclipse on the 4th. Use this lunation to generate new ideas and insights, and plans too. Mars and Jupiter are in a nice angle to facilitate planning, so go for it. By the 7th Mercury moves past the Sun and squares Neptune – your intuition is firing on all cylinders.  On the 11th, the Sun squares Neptune for a few days of unsettledness and perhaps overreach.  Get ready for the full moon in Gemini on the 18th which carries strong Saturn Uranus energies.  Uh oh, some situation needs to break down in order to give way to a new structure. Venus turns retrograde on the 19th, and as I said, this is a subtle retrograde. Let your awareness and understanding develop about what you want to do and who you want to do it with…     The Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st and it’s the Winter Solstice. Here comes the Sun and the return of the light !  By the 28th Mercury in Capricorn catches up to Venus and Pluto, so expect some intense discussion and process about what you are doing.  Jupiter leaves your sign on the 28th, entering Pisces and signifying a more expansive and inclusive time.

PISCES (FEB 20-MAR 19)  This is a helluva December, with two major month-long influences for you to contend with.  One is the disruptive Saturn Uranus square which dominated the sky for much of 2021. It’s baaa-aa-aack –and gets exact on Christmas Eve. This is an energy of breakdown and rebuilding, of a clash between the old and new, the status quo and the future.  It’s dramatic and unsettling as hell.  You will feel stressed by it.  The other influence is more subtle but nonetheless intense. Venus in Capricorn spends the entire month sitting with Pluto, as it slows down to get ready to retrograde on the 19th.   This is an intense energy of desire and commitment, turned towards relationships and towards resources.  Go ahead now, move some mountains.  When it turns retrograde, it ushers in 40 days of reflection about whether your outlays of time, money and energy are worth it.  But back to December’s specifics!  The month begins with a few days of Mercury in Sag paired up with the Sun, a great combo for conviviality and ideas.  The Sag new moon and solar eclipse occurs on the 4th, along with a nice Mars-Jupiter square.  Use this new moon for generating ideas and plans, and have fun with it.  By the 7th Mercury moves past the Sun and catches up to an angle with Neptune. You can expect to be weepy and vague, but be buoyed by the purposefulness of Mars and Jupiter.  By the 11th the Sun makes an angle to Neptune and you feel that old Neptunian discontent, yearning for something, you’re not sure what.  Don’t worry, Venus will help you have some clarity over the course of the month. The Gemini full moon comes on forcefully on the 18th, carrying the punch of Saturn and Uranus. Expect the unexpected.  Venus turns retrograde on the 19th  — again, you’ll be revaluating where your life is in sync with your values.  The Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st, marking the Winter Solstice.   By the 28th, Mercury in Capricorn joins up with Venus and Pluto, allowing for juicy discussions about resources, needs and wants.  The month ends with Jupiter entering your sign of Pisces on the 29th.  Yay. A sweet way to ring in the New Year, with big, expansive and mushy feelings of connection.

ARIES (MAR 20-APRIL19)  What can I say?  If November was complicated December is downright challenging!  There are two powerful month-long aspects in play this month that are very important.  One is that the aggravating  square between Saturn and Uranus which dominated the first half of this year.   Well, it’s back, and becomes exact on December 24th.  This combination of Saturn and Uranus has been manifesting as intense polarization and conflict, yet on the positive side, it is also about the transformation of systems. In any case, it is tumultuous, and you have to expect the unexpected.  The other influence is that Venus in Capricorn sits together with Pluto for the whole month, as it slows down to go retrograde on the 19th.  This is an important transit in many ways. Venus and Pluto in Capricorn put a focus on relationships as well as on resources, and with a great deal of intensity and desire. Once Venus is retrograde, there will be a 40 day period of reflection, of reviewing whether or not your investments are in line with your values.  Is whatever you are doing worth the effort of time, money and energy?  So this will be a fruitful time but because of Pluto, there will be drama. But back to the usual stuff!  December kicks off with a nice meet -up between Mercury in Sagittarius and the Sun, facilitating communication and ideas.  The Sag new moon and solar eclipse fall on the 4th, so use this new moon to generate ideas while Mars and Jupiter help you make them happen, and with gusto.  By the 7th Mercury moves past the Sun and makes an angle to Neptune for a few days of the dreamtime.  On the 11th, the Sun catches up to an angle to Neptune, and so use your charismatic Aries self to mobilize people or a situation.  The Gemini full moon is on the 18th, carrying big Saturn-Uranus energy, so get ready for  unexpected changes in your plans.  The Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st, and it’s the Winter Solstice.  By the 28th Mercury in Capricorn catches up to Venus and Pluto, so all you can talk about is your needs and wants. Make sure you leave room for others’ needs too!  Jupiter enters Pisces on the 28th, shifting all of our concern towards others.

TAURUS (APR 20-MAY 20)  Well, this is quite a month!  Let me cut to the chase and invite you to keep two important month -long transits in mind: one is the return of the kick-ass Saturn-Uranus angle, and the second is Venus sitting with Pluto all month as it gets ready for its retrograde on the 19th.  These transits are not bad, but they are intense. They will affect everyone, but you are smack in the middle of both since the Saturn – Uranus business occurs in Aquarius and Taurus, and Venus is your ruling planet. So yes, this is an important month for you.  Saturn and Uranus were in this angle from February til August, and now it’s back for December. Tumultuousness, clashing of interests and ideologies, breakdown of systems, chaos, new beginnings, restructuring, radical re-envisioning— these are all represented by the action of these two planets.  Sound familiar?  It is the backdrop of December.  And then the Venus thing!  Venus and Pluto in Capricorn are all about transformation of relationships, desire, and commitment. They are also about resources—money, land, earth.  Once Venus is retrograde the energy shifts and you will be reflecting on where your energy, time and money is lined up with your Taurean values, and where it is not.  If you are a Taurus who cares about the earth (duh, what Taurus doesn’t?!) then expect some reckoning this month about the environment, climate disaster, and fossil fuels.  But let me get back to the usual flow of the month…  December begins with a nice pairing of Mercury in Sagittarius with the Sun, great for communication and generating  ideas, especially on the December 4th Sag new moon and eclipse. And Mars in Scorpio makes an angle to Jupiter so you can happily plan plan plan and deploy your troops towards shared goals.  By the 7th Mercury moves into position with Neptune, so use a more intuitive process for getting things done.  The Sun then catches up to an angle with Neptune on the 11th, making you unsettled and wanting a bigger vision.  The Gemini full moon is on the 18th with strong Saturn Uranus effects. So things will feel chaotic and crazy. Expect the unexpected (a blizzard?).  Venus turns retrograde on the 19th, and remember, its influence is quite subtle and reflective. The drama comes from Pluto and from the Saturn Uranus changes.  It’s the return of the light on the 21st, ushering in the Winter Solstice when the Sun enters Capricorn.  Yay! By the 28th Mercury in Capricorn catches up to Venus and Pluto so it will be an important time to discuss these issues of resources and commitment.  Jupiter enters Pisces on the 28th , inspiring more of a sense of collective responsibility.

GEMINI (MAY 21-JUNE 20)  This is an interesting month!  December opens with Mercury in Sag pairing up with the Sagittarian Sun through the 4th, stimulating  you  like crazy– you are busy and full of ideas.  Sagittarius is your opposite sign, after all.  The Sagittarius new moon and total eclipse occurs on the  4th, along with a nice and productive  Mars-Jupiter angle.  This is a great lunation for planning, generating ideas and making things happen.   All the Sagittarian fire in the sky on an eclipse could make you very reactive, so take pains to stay calm.  Meanwhile Venus in Capricorn spends the entire month next to Pluto, as it slows down getting ready for its retrograde on December 19th (more on that below).  Venus and Pluto are nothing if not intense, and you will be bringing a lot of intensity to relationships and to all your passions. In fact, you’ll be looking for passions. You will want to throw your energy into something in a big way.  By the 7th Mercury moves past the Sun and catches up to an angle to Neptune for a few days of creative inspiration, and the  Mars -Jupiter angle helps you get things done smoothly and effortlessly.  That’s kinda nice!  By the 11th the Sag Sun lines up with Neptune and you may feel like you’re missing something, antsy, itchy.  The other big deal this month is  the  Saturn-Uranus angle which dominated the sky for much of this year. It’s back for all of December, and exact on December 24th.   This unsettling combination brings chaos and change, and you might need to tweak any new structures you put into place earlier this year..  Then, the Gemini full moon falls late on the 18th , on the eve of Venus turning retrograde.  Hmm. Needless to say, this is a big one for you, and you might feel a bit crazed.  The Gemini full moon brings a lot of debate and probably some global upsets since it makes an angle to the Saturn-Uranus business.  Expect the unexpected.  Venus goes retrograde on the 19th, ushering in a 40 day process of reflection.  That it is paired with Pluto makes it even more interesting. Venus retrograde is a reflective time, where it becomes clear whether  your investments of time, money and energy are in line with your values or not.  There is a side of Venus and a side of Pluto in Capricorn that has to do with material resources, so you should pay attention to issues of money and property during this transit. Jupiter enters Pisces early on the 28th, bringing a sense of interconnectedness, or “substance of we feeling,” to quote Doris Lessing.

CANCER  (JUNE 21- JULY 21)   Ooh, December!   First, it begins with a stimulating transit of Mercury and the Sun, paired up in Sagittarius for a few days.  You are an idea factory, especially on the  Sagittarius new moon and eclipse on the 4th. You’ll be helped by a  nice juicy angle of Mars and Jupiter so you can make concrete plans and carry them out. Important alert:   Two major month-long influences this month:  one is the return of the Saturn-Uranus square, all about chaos and change, polarization,  breakdown and then reconstruction;  and the second is that Venus is parked next to Pluto for all of December. Moreover, Venus turns retrograde on the 19th for 40 days.  And in your opposite sign of Capricorn, and on top of Pluto, no less.  Oh my oh my.    You will focusing some intense desire onto someone or something this month—just remember it may feel like a firehose to the recipient!  More on Venus retrograde in a minute… Meanwhile the very satisfyingly purpose Mars-Jupiter angle takes us from the 4th through 9th, while Mercury moves away from the Sun and makes an angle to Neptune.   Use this quick transit for dreaming and visioning. By the 11th the Sun catches up to its angle to Neptune, and you may need to take off the rose-colored glasses. Be sure you are seeing what’s real.  The Gemini full moon falls on the 18th and picks up the influence of Saturn and Uranus, exaggerating uncertainty and a sense of crisis for everyone.  Venus in Capricorn turns retrograde on the 19th, and this will be a very important transit for you,  since Venus is in your opposite sign. Venus retrograde isn’t dramatic or annoying (like other retrogrades can be!)   It is usually reflective – of course, its proximity to Pluto will likely make it more intense. The Saturn-Uranus square is exact on December 24th,  so put on your seatbelt.  By the 28th Mercury in Capricorn catches up to Venus and Pluto, so it’s a good time to discuss and process  these weighty issues of wants and needs.  Jupiter enters Pisces on the 28th, bringing a sense of interdependence.

LilBit, the newest addition to the household, in her Leo splendor

LEO (JUL 22-AUG 21)  Well,  December is kinda wild  First off– there are two month-long influences that I have to tell you about.  One is the  Saturn -Uranus square, the dramatic aspect of confrontation, polarization,  upheaval and rebuilding that dominated the sky through the summer.  It  is  back this month  for all of December, and it will be exact just in time for Christmas.  And then —Venus in Capricorn parks next to Pluto all month long, as it slows to get ready for its retrograde on the 19th.  Venus and Pluto have to do with intense desire and commitment, and the retrograde will bring 40 days of reflection about where you are putting  your energy and resources.  There is a side of this that has very much to do with money and material resources.  In the old days, , astrologers would say ”buyer beware” under Venus retrograde, and advise not to buy anything expensive because we may be misjudging the value.  So be careful to get clear about aligning your values with your investments of time, money, and energy during this Venus retrograde.  But back to the usual stuff!    December begins with a stimulating  few days of Mercury in Sag catching up to the Sun, inspiring ideas and conversation.  You will have a lot to say on the new moon in Sag  and solar eclipse on the 4th. Use this lunation to generate new ideas and insights, and plans too. Mars and Jupiter are in a nice angle to facilitate planning, so go for it. By the 7th Mercury moves past the Sun and squares Neptune – tune into your intuition as you make those plans and set those goals.  On the 11th, the Sun squares Neptune for a few days of unsettledness, so use your creative skills to settle your uneasiness.  The full moon in Gemini on the 18th might bring some drama, because it is heavy with Saturn Uranus influence.  Chaos and change are the name of the game,  so expect the unexpected,  . Venus turns retrograde on the 19th, and this is my favorite retrograde.  It shows up as a growing awareness, a reflective and deep knowing.  Let it guide you to make decisions about what you want to do and who you want to do it with…     The Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st and it’s the Winter Solstice. Here comes the Sun and the return of the light !  By the 28th Mercury in Capricorn catches up to Venus and Pluto, so it is a good time to discuss and process your commitments.  Jupiter leaves Aquarius on the 28th, entering Pisces and signifying a more expansive and humanistic time.

VIRGO (AUG 22- SEPT 21)   Well, you have some stuff to deal with this month!  There are  two major month-long influences in play  that create an intense backdrop.  One is the challenging and polarizing Saturn Uranus square which dominated the sky for much of 2021. It’s  back–and will be exact on Christmas Eve. This is an energy of breakdown and rebuilding, and you will have an opportunity to revisit decisions from earlier this year and tweak them.  Tensions between the past and the future will be highlighted.  This influence can be unsettling as hell and also liberating.   The other influence is more subtle but also kinda intense. Venus in Capricorn spends the entire month sitting with Pluto, as it slows down to get ready to turn retrograde on the 19th.   This is about desire and commitment, with a focus on relationships and on material resources.  There is an opportunity here for transforming commitments, and to reevaluate whether you’re getting the return you want and need for your efforts.  When it turns retrograde, it ushers in 40 days of reflection about whether your outlays of time, money and energy are worth it.  But back to December’s specifics!  The month begins with a few days of Mercury in Sag paired up with the Sun, so your mind is literally on fire.  The Sag new moon and solar eclipse occurs on the 4th, along with a nice Mars-Jupiter square.  Use this new moon for generating ideas and plans, and let Mars and Jupiter make it fun and easy.  By the 7th Mercury moves past the Sun and catches up to an angle with Neptune.  Use your intuition to engage the powerful purposefulness of Mars and Jupiter.  By the 11th the Sun makes an angle to Neptune and you feel that old Neptunian discontent, yearning to transcend some limitations.  Venus will help you have some clarity over the course of the month about where you want to direct your passions. The Gemini full moon comes on forcefully on the 18th, carrying the disruptions of Saturn and Uranus. Expect the unexpected.  Venus turns retrograde on the 19th  — again, you’ll be revaluating where your life is in sync with your values.  The Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st, marking the Winter Solstice.   By the 28th, Mercury in Capricorn joins up with Venus and Pluto, so it’s a good time to process and make decisions about resources, needs and wants.  The month ends with Jupiter entering your opposite sign of Pisces on the 28th.  Yay. More interconnectedness, less ideological polarization.

LIBRA (SEPT 22-OCT21)  Astrological alert: There are two powerful month-long aspects in play this month that are very important.  One is the disarming square between Saturn and Uranus which dominated the first half of this year.   Well, it’s back, and becomes exact on December 24th.  This combination of Saturn and Uranus has been manifesting in all kinds of utterly unsettling ways: polarization and conflict, breakdown of systems, and  chaos, yet it is also potentially liberating, visionary, future-oriented.  It is tumultuous, and contributes to the overall sense of  uncertainty.  The other influence is that Venus in Capricorn sits together with Pluto for the whole month, as it slows down to go retrograde on the 19th.  This is an important transit for you, since Venus is your ruling planet.. Venus and Pluto in Capricorn put a focus on relationships as well as on resources, and with a great deal of intensity and desire. Once Venus is retrograde, there will be a 40 day period of reflection, of reviewing whether or not your investments of energy, time, and money are in line with your values.  Is whatever you are doing worth it?  Venus retrograde is typically not dramatic, but our pal Pluto is, so there will likely be upheavals globally about resources and about the earth itself.  But back to my usual!  !  December kicks off with a nice meet up between Mercury in Sagittarius and the Sun, facilitating the exchange of ideas.  The Sag new moon and solar eclipse fall on the 4th, so use this new moon to generate ideas while Mars and Jupiter help you make them happen with oomph.  By the 7th Mercury moves past the Sun and makes an angle to Neptune for a few days where you are a space- shot and cant get anything done.  On the 11th, the Sun catches up to an angle to Neptune, and so tap into some transcendent Libra vision to mobilize people or a situation.  Or just binge watch Succession (now that’s a good Venus-Pluto drama!).  The Gemini full moon is on the 18th, carrying big Saturn-Uranus influence, so you will need to do what you can to stay calm and centered.   The Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st, and it’s the Winter Solstice.  By the 28th Mercury in Capricorn catches up to Venus and Pluto, so all the Venus Pluto commitments will be up for discussion.  Jupiter enters Pisces on the 28th, and girls just wanna have fun.

SCORPIO (OCT 22-NOV 21)  There are two month-long influences that are the backdrop for this wild and crazy month.  The Saturn -Uranus square, the dramatic and polarizing aspect of chaos and change, old and new, that dominated the sky through the summer, is not only back this month but it will be exact just in time on December 24th.  So it’s time to revisit what it means to let some structures fall apart so that you can build something new.  And—Venus in Capricorn sits together with Pluto all month long, as it slows to a crawl getting ready for its retrograde on the 19th.  Venus and Pluto have to do with intense desire and commitment, with a focus on relationships and also on material resources.  The retrograde will bring 40 days of reflection about where you are putting  your energy, and whether you’re getting the return in investment that you need and want.   There is a side of this that has very much to do with money.  So be careful to get clear about aligning your values with your investments of time, money, and energy during this Venus retrograde.  But back to the month at hand!  December begins with a fun few days of Mercury in Sag catching up to the Sun. You are full of ideas, and let ‘em rip on the new moon in Sag  and solar eclipse on the 4th. Use this lunation to generate new ideas and plans. Mars and Jupiter are in a nice angle to facilitate planning, so use them. By the 7th Mercury moves past the Sun and squares Neptune – your intuition is firing on all cylinders, and inspiring you to do what you do best, which is to entice others to work with you around a common purpose.  On the 11th, the Sun squares Neptune for a few days of dreamy inspiration.  Get ready for the full moon in Gemini on the 18th which carries strong Saturn Uranus energies.  Something might need  to fall apart  in order for a new structure to be created. Venus turns retrograde on the 19th, and it is an instructive and subtle transit.  All you need to do is reflect, and let that deep awareness lead you to clarity about what you want to do and who you want to do it with…  The Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st and it’s the Winter Solstice. By the 28th Mercury in Capricorn catches up to Venus and Pluto, so expect some intense discussion and process about relationships, commitment, and money.  I know—that doesn’t sound like fun but I swear it will be….Jupiter leaves Aquarius on the 28th, entering Pisces and signifying a shift in everyone’s attention towards a feeling of interconnectedness.   Ring in the new year with Jupiter!
